RULES OF THE MILAN - SAN REMO AMATEUR CYCLING RACE
Art. 1 The AMATEUR MILANO-SANREMO is open to all the F.C.I. licensed amateurs and other associations in agreement with the event as well as all the foreigners who belong to bicycle federations or similar associations to which they are regularly enrolled.
Art. 2 The possession of the card of the sport association or of the International bicycle federation is required.
Art. 3 ENROLLMENT. The racing entry form needs to be filled in through the website www.milano-sanremo.org, by paying the participation fee through credit card or bank transfer. For organizational reasons no other kinds of enrollment are accepted. There is the availability to participate as a single or as a team.
Art. 4 All entries must be provided by May 16th, 2011.
Art. 5 Participation fee: the entry cost is of 50 Euro for all the entries that will be provided by May 15th, 2011, which can be payed through the indicated methods on the website www.milano-sanremo.org, and 60 Euro (without the complimentary shirt) by June 4th, 2010. There is a free entry every 15 cumulative requests.
Art. 6 The entry fee includes: souvenir shirt, participation number, supplies, complimentary items, recovery in case of dropping out from the race, pasta party and shower.
Art. 7 The Great Long Distance Race is open to all amateurs from 18 to 65 years of age of both genders, whose birthday has taken place until the day before the competition, with a valid membership card for the current year.
Art. 8 By filling in the entry form, the subject declares to have approved the rules, to be in good physical condition, to possess a card witnessing its capability to practice sports at a competitive level which is released after having sustained a medical sport checkup and to be in possession of an insurance of civil responsibility towards others.
Art. 9 In case a participant cannot make its participation to the event, the entry fee will be considered valid for the next year; the cancellation must be provided through an e-mail at least 60 days before the race.
Art. 10 RANKING. For ranking purposes, we are defining the following categories:
- Cadet 18-27 y. old
- Junior 28-32 y. old
- Senior 33-39 y. old
- Veteran 40-47 y. old
- Gentlemen 48-55 y. old
- Supergentlemen A 56-62 y. old
- Supergentlemen B 62-70 y. old
- Women A 18-34 y. old
- Women B 35-65 y. old
Art. 11 VERIFICATION. The license verification, with the assignment of the number and the material will take place on Saturday, June 9th 2011 from 10.00 AM to 7.00 PM at the NH Milanofiori Hotel. The lack of membership card verification will result in the immediate exclusion from the event.
Art. 12 MEETUP. The meeting is set for Sunday at 6.30 AM in Milanofiori, in front of the NH Hotel where the participants will face an electronic checkpoint.
Art. 13 RACE START. The race will start at 7.00 AM by the area in front of the NH Milanofiori Hotel.
Art 14 ELECTRONIC CHECKPOINTS. An electronic checkpoint will be set up before the race will start. The athlete that will not go through such checkpoint will automatically be excluded from the ranking. The organization holds the right to execute electronic or visual checkpoints along the route; the locations of such checkpoints may not be shown on the maps of the route nor previously announced to the participants.
Art. 15 TIMING. The timing service will be kept with an automatic Champion Chip system. Each athlete, in order to be detected and ranked, has to hold a chip. The athletes that already have a valid personal Chip* for the 2011 season can use it by writing down the code in the entry form. The athletes which do not possess the BChip can buy one by retrieving it in one of the “Chip Points” of the race where over a 10 Euro caution fee, 3 Euro will be kept. The lack of or incorrect use of the CHIP will result in not receiving any information concerning time.
Art. 16 HELMET. The use of the approved hard helmet is mandatory even uphill: anyone that will be seen without the helmet will automatically be excluded from the final ranking.
Art. 17 FOLLOWING VEHICLES. They are obliged to respect the driving safety Code and cannot create any obstacle to the regular road circulation. It is mandatory for such vehicles to use the Autostrada from MASONE to GENOVA VOLTRI (otherwise the related athlete will be disqualified).
Art. 18 STREET TRAFFIC. The streets are OPEN to traffic. It is absolutely required to follow the driving safety Code.
Art. 19 “Broom” pick up vehicle. There will be a van equipped in a way to pick up the participants and their bicycles.
Art. 20 ARRIVAL. The arrival is expected to take place in Sanremo by the Palafiori congress center in Via Garibaldi 12 hours from the official departure; the athletes that will arrive over such time will be considered ranked out.
Art. 21 ORDER OF ARRIVAL. After passing the finish line, the participants will have to reach the control point to give the chips back.
Art. 22 RESULTS. The results will be posted inside the Palafiori. The rankings will be posted on the website www.milano-sanremo.org where the diploma will be available for printing.
Art. 23 COMPLAINTS. Eventual complaints will have to be sent to the race jury according to the terms of the rules and accompanied by the expected regulation fee. Lawsuits and collective complaints signed by more than one person won't be admitted.
Art. 24 PRIZE CEREMONY. The first three competitors ranking in the general classification, the first three participants of each category and the associations holding the most associates. The prize ceremony will take place from 5.30 PM at the Palafiori congress center. The prizes will be given to the athletes who will participate to the ceremony. Special prizes might be assigned.
Art. 25 DISQUALIFICATIONS. The athletes who will be found wearing another racing cyclist number, littering and not observing the driving security Code will be disqualified.
Art. 26 By filling in the entry form (also online), the competitor declares to be in possession of the medical certificate in accordance with the D.M of February 18th, 1982, to hold the regular membership card, insurance and to have read the current regulation. He also gives consent to the use of his images and his information according to the Privacy Regulation dgls. 196/2003 and its successive modifications.
Art. 27 The organization has the possibility to modify the regulation. The website www.milano-sanremo.org will be considered the official medium of the event. All the official communications will be made through the website.
Art. 28 The Organizational Association declines any responsibility for eventual damage or accidents that might occur to the participants, to thirds or things that might have taken place before, during and after the event.
The Organizational Association also has the faculty of accepting or denying the entries upon its unquestionable judgement.
Art. 29 Each participant is considered being on a personal excursion. He has to follow the dispositions of the driving security Code and the circulation laws. The road won't be protected.
IMPORTANT: We must report the fact that it is not a competitive race, even though there are rankings. The Milano – Sanremo is still an amateur and touristic long distance event.
